now we are going to discuss the main character (heathcliff)

heathcliff

he was adopted boy by mr/earnshaw.he was an ugly boy.he became equally passionate foster sister. he loved cathrine earnshaw .the narrative talk about he and cathrine doomed romance and his vengeful reaction to cathrine's berayl when she married his rival edgar linton.we don't know anything about the age before adopting.at first cathrine became his friend and lover after that meaning after the death of mr/earnshaw ,hindley treated him a little more aservant boy and makes him work the fields which creates his life long anger and resenment.cathrine remains close to her foster brother.

over the years cathrine grows up and accept proposal of edgar of marriage but she insists that her true and only love is heathcliff she refused marriage him as he "would degrade her" and they would become beggars.she express loving him saying"i am heathcliff' . heathcliff leaves wuthering heights upon over hearing cathy saying that it would degrade her to marry him and makes his fortune. upon returning he detemined to destroy these who had degraded him and prevented him from being with cathrine that makes him become anti-hero rather than a romantic hero.
he seduces edgar linton's sister and marry her treating her badly even he said he despises her.after cathrine's death ,heathcliff's vindictive cruelty intensifies, aimed to destroy not only his enemies but also their (heirs) ;hareton, son of hindly- his late wife frances-cathrins daughter of ,daughter of edgar linton and cathrine the elder . he forces his son linton into marriage with cathrinelinton after the two are married in their nearly loveless match ,the weak linton dies heathcliff treats her mercilessly and turn her into cold disant creature rather then the bright ,lively girl that she used to be . hareton and cathy eventually fall in love with their relationship in some way mirroring and in some ways opposing the relation ship between heathcliff and the elder cathrine . this manages to break the cycle of harted at wuthering heights .as heathcliff nolonger cared to continue his vendetta .

hareton resembling his aunt cathrine earnshaw much in looks , creates a sense of uneasiness for heathcliff as emily bronte often implies that he has a secret regard for hareton and that hareton sees heathcliff as his true father
the novel ends with the death of heathcliff who has become a broken ,tormented man haunted by the ghost of elder cathrine , next to whom he buired.at the very close of the novel , a servant boy declares that heathcliff and cathrine's ghosts are walking the moors togother
although nelly dean insist that they must be treated as if their souls werer at beace
as charlotte bronte(emily's older sister) said "heathcliff indeed stands also was areal human being after all.this combined with the mystery that heathcliff's character leaves behined , truley ends the novel in a mesmerzing, eerie way justifying heathcliff's enduring status as an ironic anti-hero of literature
